At Work w.3

Some photos from work. I really like working at Junebud, making computer games. We are a bunch of crazy, fun, hard working nerds and passionate people, giving it all in order to make magic happen. Our first title, MilMo, is an MMO set in a wondrous island world where players create their own hero, traveling from island to island, fighting monsters and solving quests. It’s a bit like Zelda + Super Mario meets second life.

MilMo is a 3D browser game and we were the first 3D Facebook game to use Unity. I’m so proud of my team for what they have accomplished since 2008 when the game was set in beta. We’ve come a long way since. This is does not focus on my job, but every once in a while I’ll update you with some pictures about it.

No office is complete without an office frog! This one lives on our lead scripter’s desk.

When we moved from our old place to the new one, during Christmas. A box of plants!

This week’s after work. A puzzle of 2,000 pieces…

After work, part 2. At our sound designer’s place, 03 AM recording dino sounds for the future! I was screaming so much I lost my voice for the following day…

Last after work of 2011, picture from our Christmas party. After eating a Smörgåsbord we went down town and had a really good time!

Armor design from Mass Effect 3.  I think she looks so badass I keep this one at my desk. Yeah!

Updated the section “Digital Stuff” with this today.

Also, I feel like writing a longer post about fashion. These pictures were inspired by a book about street fashion I borrowed from the library last fall. My relation to fashion is kind of complicated. I’m torn between the fascination of how differently humans dress and how much I hate spending time on things that doesn’t really matter. And yes, I think fashion is an art form.

Circuit Breaker

I prefer to be my own model when taking photos or creating images. There are two main reasons for this: first off I’m able to control the outcome much better. Second, I’m to shy to ask someone else to pose in front on my camera. Also, I think it’s kind of natural I’m using my own face, when creating images that reflects things I feel…

Here’s something I made a long time ago. Lyrics are from the song “Circuit Breaker” by Röyksopp. I tend to listen to their music a lot. Today spent the whole afternoon at work organizing weapons in the game we are making, while listening to playlists on YouTube featuring Röyksopp’s music. Their “Melody AM” really is a masterpiece.

Malmö, Sweden

Pic from spring 2011.

I moved to Malmö, Sweden about 2 years ago, from Skövde. My parents were terrified since they heard a lot off bad news about Malmö. People who have never visited Malmö tend to believe it’s some kind of war zone.

That’s not true. It’s like any big city, bad things happen but usually only if you are at the wrong place at the wrong time. If you don’t go looking for trouble trouble is less likely to find you. But to be honest I prefere to live in a city than out in the woods right now.

I’we tried them both and they each have their charm. That said, I like to go to our summer house in the Finnish archipelago each summer and tune tune out all things like Internet, tap water, TV etc. Just back to basics, fishing, hunting, collecting sea food on the shores.

Updated the section “Digital Stuff” with a new picture. It’s really not that new, but I still like it. I need to get hold of a scanner. Usually I draw the picture using traditional paper & pen, then taking a photo of the picture or scanning it into my computer. Whatever floats the boat.

My Phone

Here’s a bunch of pictures I had laying around in my phone.

On a trip to my relatives in Norway 2011.

Doing “a Kappishe” and posing with “the t-shirt of the day”!

A female ninja (still work in progress).

At Lanzarote (the Canary Islands), grilling my food using heat from a magma chamber.

At Lanzarote air port LOL.

Right now I’m re-watching some of my favorite movies from 2011; “Drive”, “The Veteran” and “W-Men: First Class”.

Beautiful shot from “Drive”.

It’s a violent movie about a driver (never mentioned by name), who finds out there’s a price on his head. This guy is really sick, but there’s something oddly beautiful about the few moments filled by love seen above. I guess the violence and dark, twisted characters  makes the love brighter.

From the movie “The Veteran”. A realistic movie about how hard it can be for a homecoming solider to adopt to everyday life.  Sometimes you can’t help falling back to bad habits.

Probably the best shot from X-Men: First Class. Epic!

As usual I know I don’t own the copyrights for these pictures. I just want to share some special moments and hope you see these movies.
