It’s Gone

darkness

I just don’t feel like drawing or painting anymore. It’s like it’s all over. Whatever imagination I had, I used it all up. I’m gonna go watch a movie. Maybe it will come back, some day.

Heh, been there and being there still. You know, imagination is a stimulus based process. You need to do something in order to get the machinery going, although to me it sounds like over-stimulation so perhaps you just nee to step back and do something else for a while.

Hi A! I think what helped was actually not push myself out of it this time. I’ve been here before, and that time I just pushed out of it. This time I chilled and did some other things, and now I feel like I wanna draw and paint again. Doing the phone cases also helped a lot, since creating them had a clear goal and was much different from the things I usually do. I guess changing my routines was what helped now when I think about it. Maybe you should try creating something completely different?

Could it be like writer’s block? If so, you can either try and push through it and just keep on painting anyways and try to reignite the spark by force (I wouldn’t recommend it – most probably you’ll just end up more frustrated), or you can do what you’re doing and just clear your head somewhere else for a while instead. It’s not wrong to take a break every now and then. ;)

Hi Simon! I think I got over it, just needed some time concentrating on completely different stuff like the cases and hunting for some jobs. ^^ Nice you are following my blog!

    Hey Sara,
yeah, I agree with Andreas and want you to do something else for a while, maybe get new ideas and thoughts. For me its one of the most important facts about art: that you cant draw all the time and have to do other “normal” things. And if you havent drawn (is that right spelling?) for a while, sometime you want to draw again because there is something missing in your life. :)
But sometimes it also helps a lot if you discover new things (music, art, movies, people, culture, etc) or maybe a good picture or something like that. And I hope for you that you get motivated again.

I hope you understood it – I am from Germany ;D

If you have questions, ask! ;)

Hi Dutze! OFC I understand you, your English is as good as mine!

I think you are right, what helped me was to do something completely different. I went outside, I hunted some jobs, I crafted some phone cases and spent time away from Photoshop. It all feels much better now!

      Hugs!

I’m sad to hear this news, I recently received my painting which you’ve made and I love it. I was hoping to see more of your work there. I hope you find your inspiration soon!
